Song & Dance opened in August 2004, with the aim of providing music, dance and theatre products all under one roof!

The friendly atmosphere provided by Justine and staff welcomes all the family. There is something for everyone! Our expert staff are here to help you select the right products at very competitive prices.

Justine has an accomplished background in dance, music and theatre: Justine has danced competitively in Ballroom and Latin American and she has passed adult examinations in tap and ballet to Gold standard, achieving honours certificates. Justine has been a member of local theatrical groups, playing leading roles in both musicals and plays, has worked as a chorus member and as part of the dancing chorus. Justine has also played the violin and piano since childhood. She has acheived top level Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations in both piano, violin, and music theory. Lessons for these are available with Justine at SONG & DANCE to advanced levels (for more information on music lessons available at Song & Dance please see the music lessons page). Justine thoroughly enjoys playing the violin with Colne Orchestral Society and is secretary for them. During childhood, she was a keen member of a local childrens' choir. One of her more recent projects is taking singing lessons, and working towards further singing examinations.

Pointe shoe fitting is available at SONG & DANCE. We have a room dedicated to soft pointe and pointe shoes to provide a comfortable enviroment for the ballerina. With a wooden floor and ballet barre the ballerina can try out her new pointe shoes. We have a wide selection of pointe and soft pointe shoes available. Our pointe shoe fitters have been professionally trained by Ether Juon. Their knowledge and experience allows the dancer to ask any questions she may have regarding her shoes, care of her shoes and care for her feet and toes. We also have a wide selection of toe tape and toe pads, including lambswool. Soft ribbon is available for pointe shoes with a variety of elastics. We also provide a darning service!

Esther was born and raised in Switzerland. She trained in classical ballet with Armin Wild and the Opera House Ballet in Zurich where she danced with the company for one season.. In 1972 she went to London for further training with Rambert and the then Dance Centre in Covent Garden. A fall while training brought her professional carer to an abrupt end. After an operation and learning to walk again she returned seven years later to ballet as a teacher. She opened her first Ballet school in Crawley, Sussex, England and in 1985 moved to Brighton where she became a registered BBO teacher. She opened Dance Laines Ballet School and Pointe Shoe Fitting Centre in January 1985. She built up the reputation of her ballet school and became renowned for her structured adult ballet classes. She ran Dance Laines for 20 years before moving to New Zealand.

All the staff at SONG & DANCE have experience in music, dance or theatre and many are still active in their chosen field. This knowledge is passed on to those customers who require help and advice in choosing the correct products to purchase.
