Members of our staff have performed at competition level in many of the above types of dancing, and have taken examinations to a high level. With our expertise, we can help and advise you on all aspects of male, female and children's dance wear and fitting.

We have an extensive range of dance outfits and dance shoes to choose from. As cheerleading and belly dancing have become very popular we have now extended our stock to include dance outfits and accessories for these including pom poms!

We stock the dance uniform for both boys and girls for the recognised examining bodies for the various forms of dance in the UK: The Royal Academy of Dancing, ISTD and IDTA.

Ballet

At Song & Dance we will advise you on the dance uniform you will need. The ballet uniform required depends on the exam grade and individual dance schools. We are a specialist ballet shoe fitters, stocking a full range of sizes and styles of soft ballet shoes with width fittings for the perfect fit. We stock ballet uniforms and ballet shoes for boys and men. The leotard has been accepted practice costume for dancers since Monsieur Leotard invented it in France over 100 years ago. We have many dancewear suppliers: Roch Valley, Capezio, Katz, Sansha, Grishko, Wear Moi to name a few - so we can give you a wider choice of styles and price!

The little ballerina dreams about her first pair of pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are ballet shoes that allow dancers to go on their toes - or pointes. The shoes are designed to support the foot when the dancer is on the tips of their toes. Justine Wormwell is our specilaist pointe shoe fitter who has been trained and assessed by Esther Juon A.B.B.O in the fitting of pointe shoes. We carry a large stock of pointe shoes by Capezio and Grishko. Grishko shoes being our best selling pointe shoes. We have a room dedicated to pointe shoe fitting complete with ballet barre and a wooden floor. We also offer a darning service for pointe shoes and softe pointes.

Tap

We stock a full range of tap shoes in a variety of styles and colours for all ages from beginners to professionals. White, black, silver, pink,tan and hologram are just some of the colours available. Tap shoes have metal 'tap' plates on the sole at the toe and heel. Some shoes come already fitted with 'taps' and other more expensive leather shoes, have to have 'taps' fitted. These are available to buy as are new laces. Last years best sellers were the hologram tap shoes and pink glitter jelly shoes, both of which are currently top this year! New for 2009 are the 'Dorothy' ruby glitter effect tap shoes.

Ballroom

Whether you dance ballroom or latin at social or amateur level, we have a massive range of ballroom shoes for both children and adults in stock and on the website to suit your needs. At Song & Dance you will find all the latest fashions in ballroom shoes for men, women and children. We have recently added to our stock, practice skirts for ballroom, latin and salsa.

Ballroom is now a very popular form of dancing enhanced by the TV show 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'Dancing With The Stars'. Enjoyed by all ages, in small informal groups to competition level.

Modern / Jazz / Street

These modern forms of dancing to popular lively, rhythmical music, have a relaxed approach to clothing and footware, in contempory and fashionable styles.

We stock a wide range of leotards in comfortable, fashionable styles. Leggings are available in lycra, meryl and cotton/lycra. Leggings, cycle shorts and hot pants teamed with a matching crop top make a fantastic outfit for cheerleading or street dance. Our jazz pants are now available with a fashionable 'boot cut', in meryl or lycra.

We have leather jazz shoes with a full or split sole, dance sneakers and the more modern dance sleeker. The dance sleeker is in between the jazz shoes and dance sneakers, making it extreemly flexible but also very light.

Line Dancing and Rock & Roll

We have recently increased our range of line dancing shoes for men and women, with new colour ranges and styles for 2009. Cuban heel leather shoes with leather soles have always been the most popular line dancing shoe. New styles have suede soles with a variety of heel heights in varying styles. Gymnastics

The range of gymnastic leotards is always changing to keep up with new fashions and fabric designs. We have a good range of gymnastic clothing for boys and men. Gym shoes are also availble to order. There is something for everyone: long or short sleeves, turtle neck, round neck or A-line, velvet or lycra. For the boys and men we have leotards with matching shorts or stirrup pants, all at prices to suit your budget. Track suits and girls warm up shorts are new for summer 2009.
