DANCE, DANCE WEAR, SHOES and CLOTHING

Members of our staff have performed at competition level in many of the above types of dancing, and have taken examinations to a high level. With our expertise, we can help and advise you on all aspects of male, female and children's dance wear and fitting. We have an extensive range of products to choose from. As cheerleading and belly dancing have become very popular we have now extend our stock to include outfits for these and even pom poms!

The Royal Academy of Dancing, ISTD and IDTA are recognised examining bodies for the various forms of dance in the UK.

Ballet

At Song & Dance we will advise you on the uniform you will need.  The ballet uniform required depends on the dance grade and individual dance schools. We are a specialist ballet shoe fitters, stocking a full range of sizes and styles of soft ballet shoes including width fittings for the perfect fit. We have specilaist fitters trained and assessed by Esther Juon A.B.B.O in the fitting of pointe shoes. We also offer a darning service for pointe shoes and softe pointes. We stock ballet uniforms and shoes for boys and men.

The little ballerina dreams about her first pair of pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are ballet shoes that allow dancers to go on their toes - or pointes. The shoes are designed to support the foot when the dancer is on the tips of their toes. The leotard has been accepted practice costume for dancers since Monsieur Leotard invented it in France over 100 years ago.

Tap

We stock a full range of tap shoes in a variety of styles and colours for all ages from beginners to professionals. Tap shoes have metal 'tap' plates on the sole at the toe and heel. Some shoes are fitted with 'taps' other more expensive, leather shoes have to have 'taps' fitted. This is also a service we provide. New for 2007 are Jelly Taps which are proving to be extremley popular.

Ballroom

Whether you dance ballroom or latin at social or amateur level, we have a massive range of children's and adult ballroom shoes in stock to suit your needs. We also stock practice skirts for ballroom, latin and salsa. Ballroom is now a very popular form of dancing enhanced by the TV show 'Celebrity/Strictly Come Dancing'. Enjoyed by all ages, in small informal groups to competition level.

Modern / Jazz / Street

We stock leotards, leggings and shoes for these forms of dancing, in a contempory and fashionable style. This is a more modern form of dancing to lively, rhythmical music, with a  relaxed approach to clothing and footware.

Line dancing and rock & roll

We have line dancing shoes in stock for men and women, with new colour ranges and styles for 2007. Browse in store through our costume catalogue for the perfect outfit.

Gymnastics

We have a wide range of leotards and gym shoes. There is something for everyone: long or short sleeves, turtle neck, round neck or A-line, velvet or lycra. For the boys and men we have leotards with matching shorts or stirrup pants, all at prices to suit your budget.
